We are delighted to report that the Year 11 Berlin Trip 2024 at half term was a great success. Throughout the entire trip, students were praised for their maturity, empathy and respect and students were an absolute credit to the school from start to finish.
It began with a visit to Sachsenhausen concentration camp, where expert guides provided insight into the horrific realities of Nazi persecution. This powerful experience deeply resonated with all who attended. In the afternoon, we visited the Allied Museum, stepping inside a 1948 plane used in the Berlin Airlift—an inspiring glimpse into post-war history.
On day two, students embarked on a walking tour of Berlin’s iconic landmarks. Stops included Museum Island, the memorial to the Nazi book burnings, the Holocaust Memorial, Hitler’s bunker, and the Brandenburg Gate. At Checkpoint Charlie students were captivated by “The Wall” art exhibition, which offered an immersive perspective on life in 1980s Berlin from both East and West sides. The day ended with a fun evening of bowling for students and staff alike.
The final day took us to the East Side Gallery, where students admired the stunning artwork that transformed the Berlin Wall’s western side into a symbol of hope and creativity.
This trip was an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impact on everyone involved.
