Surrey County Cricket 6th Form Programme
We are pleased to announce a new partnership between Hinchley Wood School 6th Form and Surrey County Cricket Club as part of the Surrey CCC State School Sixth Form Cricket Programme. This exciting new collaboration will make up to 10 additional places in each sixth form cohort available to talented young cricketers.
Launching for September 2025 entry the programme will provide young male and female cricketers with access to high-quality cricket coaching, provided by accredited Surrey CCC Coaches, as well as strength and conditioning training, throughout their two year A Level courses.
The cricket programme also offers participants the opportunity to learn more about cricket as a business through a range of employability workshops and certified courses. There will also be opportunities to acquire vocational and life skills in the areas of hospitality, coaching, media and grounds keeping. For example, students on the programme in Spring 2024, undertook the Level 1 Grounds Maintenance Association course, which included a work experience session with Lee Fortis, Surrey CCC’s Head of Grounds, and his team at The Kia Oval.
Many students also complete the Support Coaching Course and gain experience as volunteer cricket coaches with the Surrey Cricket Foundation. They could also help deliver cricket sessions to local primary school children in the Ben Hollioake Learning Centre at The Kia Oval.
For those interested in getting involved and applying for the programme in future, see full details on the Surrey CCC website and watch the short presentation below by Judy Wallis, Sixth Form Programme Lead at Surrey CCC. You can contact Judy Wallis on: jwallis@surreycricket.com
Please note: When applying for the programme, students must apply for both HWS Sixth Form via the online application form and directly with Surrey County Cricket. A trial during October half term will be part of the selection process for places on this pathway. This pathway is now closed for applications.
