A Level Course Information
In order to enable our 6th Form students to achieve academic success and open doors to a wide range of future choices, we offer a study programme of breadth, depth and challenge across Year 12 and Year 13. Whilst the DfE threshold for a full time programme is set at 540 planned hours, on average, the HWS offer in the academic year to our sixth form form students was as follows:
- Year 12 - a total of 696 hours made up of 555 planned qualification (taught) hours and 141 non-qualification hours per year for a Year 12 student taking 3 A Levels.
- Year 13 - a total of 620 hours made up of 525 planned qualification (taught) hours and 95 non-qualification hours for a Year 13 student taking 3 A Levels.
Our sixth form programme of study, non-qualification hours provides opportunities for our students to develop broader skills, attitudes and confidence through our tutorial sessions and enrichment programme. To support next steps progression, our Year 12 students are given the opportunity to take part in a week of work experience to apply their skills in real working conditions and develop their thinking about career choices.
