33 students from HWS have had their poems selected for publication in the official competition book of the national poetry competition, 'I Have a Dream'.  The overall winners are yet to be announced and the book of successful entries will be published in March 2026.

9JB held a brilliant bake sale at break on 12th December to fund the Year 9 Senior Tea Party we’re hosting in February. All proceeds will help us welcome senior citizens from Hinchley Wood for an afternoon of tea, treats and company. They raised an incredible £135.20! 🌟

Admissions Appeals

Parents have the right to appeal to an independent panel against the governors’ decision not to offer a place. If your child is not offered a place at Hinchley Wood School and you wish to appeal, you must submit your appeal through the Surrey Schools Appeals Service. Appeals can be made by completing the online form or by downloading and submitting a paper version. Further information is available on the Surrey Schools Appeals website, where you can also access the appeal form by searching for Hinchley Wood School (LINK TO APPEALS FORM).

Appeals will not start being heard until after the relevant closing date has passed. Appeals lodged after these dates will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, whichever is the later date.

Appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing. Appellants will be sent a copy of the school's case, normally a week in advance of the hearing.

Appellants must ensure that any further evidence not included with their initial appeal is received by the stated deadline, which will be clearly highlighted in the appeal hearing notification letter. Any additional evidence or information received after this date might not be considered at the appeal hearing.


In Year Admissions Appeals

In accordance with the Department of Education guidelines Surrey Schools Appeals Service aim to hear appeals for immediate entry within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged. Please note that appeals are heard during term time and not during any of the school holidays. For example if you lodge an appeal close to the end of the summer term in July, it may not be possible to hear the appeal until after the start of the new school year in September
