We brought the school year to a fantastic close with our much-anticipated Summer Concert, celebrating the talent and dedication of our student musicians.
The evening opened with the Hinchley Wood Orchestra performing a selection of Disney favourites, including We Don’t Talk About Bruno, followed by a vibrant performance of Under the Sea from our Wind Ensemble. Two Year 13 students captivated the audience with a beautiful duet from Moulin Rouge, while Sonas delivered a series of moving performances, including Ed Sheeran’s The Parting Glass.
The programme continued with a range of contemporary and pop classics, including ABBA’s Mamma Mia, Coldplay’s A Sky Full of Stars and Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know. The Jazz Funk Allstars brought energy and style with Herbie Hancock’s Chameleon, alongside performances from a wide variety of ensembles showcasing the diversity of music-making across the department.
A particular highlight (and very apt for the evening!) was the Staff Choir’s performance of Sweet Caroline, which was warmly received by the audience and added to the celebratory atmosphere. Phoenix Voices ended the night with beautiful harmonies performing the popular Shut Up and Dance and the emotionally charged Rise up and Stand Up, by Cynthia Erivo
The Summer Concert was a wonderful celebration of the achievements of our musicians. We are incredibly proud of all the students who performed with confidence and passion, and we thank our staff, instrumental teachers and families for their support in making the evening such a memorable success.
