Year 12 Art students are having a great time experimenting with professional oil bars for the first time. The aim is to create large scale abstract oil paintings of exotic fruit. They enjoyed the new experience of freeing up and going abstract! pic.twitter.com/LvtEEzZDv7

Year 12 students took part in a charity Colour Run in aid of the Grace Dear Trust. Students ran or walked around the school field getting showered with washable paint. Lots of fun in the sunshine and raising £260 for the charity, whose ethos is ‘It’s OK to not be OK’. pic.twitter.com/RlcifqbI7M

Super Curriculum

Super Curriculum logo final copy U

The Hinchley Wood Super Curriculum aims to inspire students to delve deeper into their subjects, offering a range of opportunities and suggested activities to extend and challenge their thinking, knowledge, and skills.

This page contains a range of self-directed activities for each subject. These are activities that are linked to the curriculum but encourage students to go above and beyond the classroom and are completed in students’ own time. Each subject’s page is broken down by key stage and split into read/watch/listen/visit/create/explore.

The ideas provided are designed to immerse students in the wider context of each subject, providing them with greater insight into what the subject entails and nurturing their enthusiasm for learning.  We hope that any interested student will take up some of the ideas offered.

To access the suggested activities for each subject, click on the links below. We hope both students and parents find it easy to access and use and that it leads to interesting discussions at home.

Speakers for Schools - Weekly Live Broadcasts

"We believe nothing better inspires young people than the direct sharing of advice and experiences" quote from Speakers for Schools.

The Speakers for Schools Inspiration Programme provides a network of today’s most inspiring figures across business, arts, politics and more, donating their time to help inspire students to fuel their ambition.

Before Covid, the organisation would work with schools to get inspirational speakers to talk to students.  Like so many organisations, they have had to go online and now offer a regular programme of live video talks that students can join from home.

Visit the Speakers for Schools website to see the broadcast timetable and details of how to join the talks.
